Ludacris Vs.. Drake & Big Sean ....Beef over Rapping Flows..

Back in May Big Sean joined Sway on RapFix Live, where he chatted about rappers who were duplicating his “Supa Dupa” punch line flow (aka hashtag rap). In an earlier interview with AllHipHop, Drake—who credits Sean with introducing him to the style, made popular on tracks like “Forever”—called out Ludacris, in particular, for an unsuccessful attempt at copying the style on the single “My Chick Bad” ("Comin' down the street like a parade/Macy's!") Luda clearly hasn’t forgotten the jab, because on the new single “Bada Boom” from his 1.21 Gigawatts: Back To the First Time mixtape the ATL rapper takes a few shots at Big Sean and Drake.

HERE’S WHY:

Big Sean (MTV.com interview):

“With the super duper flow, I created that one word rhyme style,” Big Sean said in an interview. “Drake really made it more popular, but Drake gave me the credit and was like, ‘I really got that from Big Sean.’ I think some artists just did it so wack man. Every time I say names I get in trouble and it’s like I’m dissing, but some people used it wack. Don’t get it wrong I’m not trying to dis Ludacris or nothing. He’s a great MC. But even though that style got so overused, there was a lot of people who did it great and there was a lot of people who didn’t do it so great. People always ask me was you mad that people took that style from you. I’m like, ‘Nah, that went and shows me how far I can go as an artist.’ I feel like I changed hip-hop. I haven’t even dropped an album yet. So that goes to show me how powerful my mind is.’”

Drake interview (AllHipHop.com):

“Well, that flow has been killed by so many rappers. And, I never want to use that flow again in life. [Laughs] I wanted to take if off my album, because I was like, ‘I shut ‘em down. Onyx.’ I hate the fact that that rhyme is still in there. To be honest, that flow, you can trace it back to like…I trace it back to Big Sean (artist on Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music). That’s the first guy I heard utilize that flow throughout the duration of a verse. I’ll give him that credit. I think Kanye got it from him. Me and Wayne found a dope way to do it. I don’t want to sound cocky, but the best way its been used was on “Forever.” Those lines just all individually make so much sense. They’re all punchlines. Then a bunch of rappers started doing it and using the most terrible references in the world. I don’t want to offend somebody…I hate that rappers picked that flow up. I wish they had left that for people that know how to use it. [They go like] “It’s a parade! MACY’S!” <<<<<——LUDA SAID THAT…..

Luda says.....

“Counterfeit rappers say I’m stealing their flows,
but I can’t steal what you never made up B*tch
Y’all some duplicate rap cloning n!ggas
I manufacture you hoes put on your makeup B*tch”

“May not like the way I used it, but you know you ain’t invent it, boy
Do your research before you make a claim so bogus that’s disrespecting pioneers in the game.”

MARY J. BLIGE AND BEYONCÉ DUET SEAN GARRETT CALLSICONIC’

Two of the biggest voices in music, Mary J. Blige and Beyoncé, join forces on their new duet “Love a Woman.” The producer-songwriter behind the superstar collaboration, Sean Garrett, spoke with Rap-Up.com about how the “iconic” track came together.

Garrett, revealed that the song was originally written for Beyoncé. “I initially did the record for Beyoncé and then we just felt it would be an even bigger record with Beyoncé and Mary J. Blige,” he explained. “Both these women are two iconic female figures in the world, and what would be better than putting those two on a record? We felt it would be a really iconic move.”

“Woman,” which appears on Blige’s 10th album My Life II… The Journey Continues (Act I), will take listeners back. “We did a throwback ’90s type of feel with the track,” said Garrett. “We wanted to give people who grew up with Mary and Beyoncé that real feel that they could reminisce on.”

“The vocals on it are impeccable,” added the hitmaker. “Both Mary and Beyoncé did an incredible job vocally. It just epitomizes the soulfulness, the integrity of real women, and it couldn’t come at a more climactic time.”

Drake Covers Complex: Talks Sweaters, Biggest Fears & Love For Serena

Drake is beginning to develop a low tolerance for wasting time and money. This was apparent during his latest photo shoot for Complex when he stopped the shoot mid-way through to call up his manager. Drake wasn’t feeling the photographer and decided he’d rather have one of his homeboys from Toronto to finish the shoot:

I’m not going to take that sh*t,” Drake says when I ask him later what went wrong at the shoot. “Nah man, I work too f*cking hard for that. So does everyone around me. Not to hate,” he says, “and to whoever I snatched that opportunity from, I apologize. But this is about what we’re trying to build here.”

When all was said and done, Drizzy’s cover features him on the cover of a blues cd cover (somewhat different but it works) that is being held by an unidentified female. In the cover story,Drake chopped it up with Complex about being nitpicked on in the media, his fears, rap beefs and tennis champ Serena Williams for his Complex Cover Story. Take a peek at the excerpts:

On the media:
They nitpick at everything,” he says, shaking his head. “I can’t do anything. All they want me to do is dress so they can make fun of me. Otherwise, it’s hard for them. I don’t give people many reasons to dislike me. They have to find sh*t. They’re like, ‘Aw man, sweaters! He wears sweaters too much.’ Like, what?

On his fears:
Dying, before I accomplish all this. That’s it. My father taught me: ‘Don’t fear any man. Don’t ever fear another person.’ I don’t get myself mixed up with stupid sh*t. I get a lot of love. I don’t feel tension. I stand 6’2″. By no means am I the most threatening guy in the rap game, but there are very few people who will come up and say that sh*t to me in person. It’s always all smiles. That’s one thing I do not fear, anyone in this game. Nobody. Especially none of these guys that are paid to talk sh*t.

If somebody wants to bring a problem to me, it’s strictly based off of their immense amount of hate for me,” he says. “It’s never because I’ve sparked that using my voice, my image, or my outlet. I never use my outlet for confrontation or negativity, ever. I always try and give people music to ride to and music to enjoy. All I ever ask in return is that it’s mutual love.” Is that too much to ask? Maybe. But what can you do when the love turns to hate? “I’m ready for whatever,” he says. “I don’t give a f*ck. I want to move through life in the most non-confrontational way possible, but I’m not a pussy. Don’t ever get that mixed up.”

On a rumored relationship with Serena Williams
“I really, really love and care for Serena Williams. She’s incredible. That’s someone I’m proud to say I know. She’s definitely in my life and I’m in her life. It’s great to watch her play tennis. Very impressive.”

JAY-Z TALKS KANYE WEST, AND BABY CARTER WITH GQ

Jay-Z has been crowned “King of the Year” by GQ in the magazine’s annual “Men of the Year” issue, sharing the cover with Justin Timberlake, Jimmy Fallon, and Mila Kunis, among others. The dad-to-be opens up about his love for art, dealing with Kanye West’s perfectionism while working on Watch the Throne, the emotional scars left by his “superhero” father, and whether he’ll be putting a car seat in the Maybach.

On Kanye’s obsession with perfection:
“I think he just can’t help himself. He puts so much into everything, and he’s like, ‘You have to treat it like I treat it.’ It drives you crazy sometimes—like when you’ve put seventy-five versions of a snare on one song and he’s like, ‘No!’ and you’re like, ‘Come on, man.’”

On the concept of “Ni**as in Paris”:
“It’s not, like, ‘We’re here! We’re balling harder than everybody. It’s like, ‘I’m shocked that we’re here.’ Still being amazed, still not being jaded. Having so much fun and then stopping and saying, ‘What are we doing here? How did we get here?’”

On announcing his child at the VMAs:
“It was actually Bey who wanted to [announce] it. You want to be in control of your life.”
On his relationship with his late father: “If your dad died before you were born, yeah, it hurts—but it’s not like you had a connection with something that was real. Not to say it’s any better—but to have that connection and then have it ripped away was, like, the worst. My dad was such a good dad that when he left, he left a huge scar. He was my superhero.”

On whether he’ll play his music for his child:
“There will be a lot of that. And a lot of other records, all pivotal, important records. There’ll be Ready to Die, there’ll be Illmatic.”

On changing diapers:
“Of course, of course. One hundred percent.”

On putting a car seat in the Maybach:
“Yeah. Wouldn’t that be great? That would be a great picture.”
